The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improving the quality of life of patients and their families. The Society was established in 1949 as The de Villiers Foundation. In 2000, the Society changed its name from The Leukemia Society of America to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to emphasize its commitment to fighting all blood cancers.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training® is the world’s largest endurance sports training program. Nationally they have trained more than 320,000 people and raised over $750 milion. This money helps fund the Society’s critical mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Team In Training® is first and foremost a fundraising program. The program’s primary objective is to raise funds for research of blood cancers. They are fortunate to have the support of the Boston Athletic Association, which will award guaranteed invitational race entries to non-qualified runners from our organization in order to accelerate the cures for blood cancers.
